Donut fest is back in Chicago for it’s second anniversary! The city’s best bakeries and restaurants come together to crown the “Best Donut in Chicago.” The winner is chosen by a judging panel, but there is also a “crowd favorite award” voted for by the ticket holders. The throw-down is Sunday, January 25th at the Chop Shop’s 1st Ward, 2033 W. North Ave., in Wicker Park.

Tickets sell out within hours (sorry, they are already gone) and a portion of ticket sales are to help raise money for Un86’d, a non-profit organization that helps restaurant industry workers in need.

We attended the first Donut Fest last year and we’re ready to compete again! Last year, our Nutella bombolini was loved by the crowd, this year’s entry is being kept top secret by manager, Kelly Lynch. The Chicago Sun-Times deemed the Nutella bombolini number one in an article, stating  ” [t]he decadent combination of flavors could have overpowered this concoction and made it too sweet after one bite, yet it was matched with a light cake base that absorbed the unique tastes and made it just right.”

Did we mention there is coffee? Donut fest also has some of Chicago’s finest coffee roasters in attendance! What better accompaniment to donuts than great coffee?

Stay tuned to see how we do!
